January

Well, hello January! Late, but better that than never, or so they say. I've spent the past few days recovering from our especially epic New Year's party, and recovering for me involves staying indoors (in my shearling slippers) with a paintbrush in one hand and a cup of peppermint tea in the other.

Happy New Year! Did you all make some nice resolutions? I like making resolutions, even though I seldom keep them, because traditions tethered to the changing of the seasons help me make so much sense of this big spinning world. January feels clear and polished and gentle and bright. It feels funny, and yet familiar, to celebrate the new while still in the belly of winter.

January's desktop calendar is ready to download! Please click here for the link to the large file (the one above is small and will be blurry on your desktop). Once you get to the new window, just right-click on the image to save it.

This calendar is part of a large painting I recently finished, which will be available in my Etsy shop next week (as the original, and then as prints). I'm working on a series of these which I hope to use as desktop calendars every month this year. 2012 was heavy with so much sadness, for me and for many, many others. The response in my heart is to pick up a paintbrush, collect the most beautiful colors that I know of, and make the most joyful noise that I can.

So here's to a colorful new year....Happy 2013, friends!
