Lately

Hazy and lazy and gray. Bright blue after the morning fog lifts. Cold and clear. And then, at night, crystal stars in glassy skies. That's how Fall settles into Nashville, every year the same. I feel happy about this season, about the shift in colors and the tenacity of the wind. But also, today...I feel a little bit wrecked.

Meanwhile, the world spins. Brunch tables are set for twelve. House portraits are packaged and shipped. Beloved friends, like these two, keep our hearts lifted and our days filled with laughter. And a certain shy kitty melts us both into puddles when she looks at us this way. I feel very grateful today for friends and animals and weather and jokes, and all the good threads that are sewn into this life. They certainly make the rotten ones a little less brazen.
