This is a very October-y house, wouldn't you say, what with its orange front door and burgundy wood facade? And see the little parakeet in the upstairs window? It's the first time I've been asked to put a bird in one of the portraits....I love it! So far, I've done cats and dogs, a squirrel, a sea turtle, several chickens, and a pointy-hat gnome. I've learned a lot about people and their "pets" by doing these house portraits. I can now recognize almost any breed of dog just by looking at it, even the obscure ones. You never know what you're going to learn in this life.
This weekend we are going to batten down the hatches, shut ourselves in and do some serious things. Manley has one of his final architecture exams to study for, and I have a gigantic stack of house portraits that needs to be finished by mid-December. I have to make some progress on them...or else!!! We hear it will be very cold. This is helpful information. Cold + coffee + sweaters + a whole weekend + more coffee = a very productive weekend.
Here's hoping, anyway. Hope yours are nice too :)
P.S. Due to popular request, I've decided to do a very limited run of gift certificates for house portraits this year. The certificates are redeemable any time in 2013. If you're currently on my waiting list, this can be a sneaky way to jump ahead :) To snatch one up, visit the listing here. :)
